Civil Defence Ireland selected Workwear Solutions International to provide technical garment services through a competitive procurement process completed in 2022.
Following award, Workwear Solutions conducted an initial review of the current uniform range with feedback from the Civil Defence units nationwide. Following the feedback, a full redesign was completed by WSI which included several new items and a modernisation of existing garments, as well as developing new female fit items.
The final uniform range was agreed with the workwear committee before full technical specifications were created ready for the tender process to take place for the entire workwear uniform for the Civil Defence. Following the submission of the tender samples, a full technical assessment was completed and a detailed quality document provided for each tenderer which provided the information for the unsuccessful tenderers and formed the basis of the on-boarding of the successful tender.
Natalie also provided support in reviewing the written tender responses, providing industry knowledge to allow the Civil Defence to complete the assessment of the tender and award the contract.
Since the contract award, WSI have worked closely with the Civil Defence and the new supplier using the tender assessment document to ensure the project was kept on track with assessment of all trims, fabrics and finished goods in line with specifications which are now fully controlled by WSI on the Civil Defence’s behalf.
The final uniform range is significantly improved from the previous uniform as the new technical fabrics and branding gives a fresh image to the volunteers, and the positive changes made to the sizing and fitting of the uniform greatly enhance the experience of the teams wearing the uniforms.
