Workwear Solutions is honoured to have received the BSIF Safety Solution Award 2026!
The prestigious BSIF Safety Awards recognise excellence across the safety industry, celebrating outstanding customer service, product innovation, and, most importantly, contributions to improving occupational safety and health. This year, the BISF Awards were announced at the Safety & Health Excellence Awards, which took place at the CBS Arena, Coventry, on Wednesday the 1st of July 2026.

Specifically, the Safety Solution Award recognised ‘major improvements in occupational safety by the entrant when working with their customer to create a safety solution’.
Our submission showcased how our Independent Technical PPE Procurement Services help organisations make better-informed procurement decisions, reduce risk, and achieve safer outcomes for their workforce. Between answering key questions and presenting 10 case studies, we demonstrated the impact of our Service Methodology, highlighting how independent evaluation, technical due diligence and evidence-based decision making deliver measurable improvements in PPE procurement.
In their awarding rationale, the judging panel stated that:
“Workwear Solutions International demonstrated extensive expertise in PPE procurement, showcasing how its services have enabled customers not only to secure reliable product supply but also to develop a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding PPE. Through education and guidance, the company has helped customers to make informed procurement decisions, establishing sustainable purchasing practices that help ensure employees remain safe in the workplace.”
Our Service Methodology
Our Service Methodology is well practiced and implemented successfully for a wide range of uniform, technical workwear and PPE public sector contracts. Everything we do on behalf of our clients is centred on delivering measurable value and driving meaningful improvements in the products and services provided by their suppliers. Having this focus at our core drives our relationships with our clients, allowing us to integrate and collaborate closely, often becoming a natural extension of their teams.
As the outsourced technical specialists for our clients, we are able to effectively bridge the critical technical gap between health & safety, operational and procurement teams. Organisations are often unable to employ specialist roles on a full-time basis largely due to a lack of budget, unavailability of the specialists or not needing to have the expertise in-house full-time. There has also been very little succession planning for technical roles in many organisations which leaves buyers without personnel with specific technical expertise or knowledge of Standards. It is also challenging to encourage buyers/end users to join technical Standards committees, meaning there is a significant gap in the knowledge required to specify, verify and risk assess PPE items.
Our industry experience and technical Standards knowledge is highly valuable to end user clients as we help navigate and simplify the PPE procurement process, from pre-tender stages and product developments through to technical assessment during and post-tender. Critically, our main objective is ensuring specifications are fit for purpose and reflect latest Standards and test methods to meet the demanding needs of our clients, whose teams operate in demanding operational environments with multiple risks and challenges.
Our work provides peace of mind for buyers seeking technical expertise as the missing link between their risk assessments and the product specifications. By introducing better specifications, with expertly evaluated samples and documentation, we are not only ensuring safety and quality compliance but preventing non-compliant or not fit-for-purpose PPE reaching wearers (either at wearer trial stage or in contract), therefore greatly reducing the potential risks to the end user. We are detailed, transparent and coordinated in our approach, with clear and robust technical assessment and quality assurance documents, all of which have been described as a “gamechanger” by existing clients.
Improving Health & Safety Culture through Effective Procurement
Through working with us, our clients gain a clearer understanding of the technical constraints and capability gaps that can exist within their internal procurement and operational teams. This awareness enables them to recognise where specialist expertise is required and the value that targeted technical insight can bring to the procurement process.
Our role in providing depth in knowledge allows organisations to make more informed, strategic decisions. By drawing on our specialist experience, we help clients identify potential risks, technical requirements, and performance considerations at an early stage, long before they manifest as problems.
As a result, our clients become better equipped to structure procurement processes in a way that aligns with their operational and technical objectives. Rather than reacting to issues once they arise, they develop the capability to anticipate problems before they arise, shifting their process from a reactive function to a more strategic and informed discipline.
Reducing Accidents & Incidents through Compliance from Day One
Our services ensure that appropriate specifications are developed at the very beginning of a project or tender process – starting from accurate technical specifications, aligning best practice, operational needs and up to date Standards and test requirements, means that we are implementing preventative measures for the risks posed by non-compliant or not fit-for-purpose products being provided to end users.
In completing technical evaluations of products, we have many examples of cases where we have eliminated tenderers samples for non-conformity to quality and/or performance requirements, as well as incorrect or misleading documentation.
This raises the bar in terms of the clients’ understanding and management of their PPE supply chain, by only allowing through to wearer trial or contract provision compliant goods. Our services therefore reduce the accidents and health incidents by eliminating the risk before users are provided with any PPE products.
Winning this award is a fantastic achievement for our team and reflects the impact of our independent, technical approach to PPE procurement in delivering practical, measurable safety solutions that create safer outcomes for our clients and their workforce.
